I’m currently working with @carreratattoo at @yourfleshtattoo on a tattoo for my arm based on two of my landscape photographs. This lower section is a photo I shot from Hunts Mesa in Monument Valley. I’m loving how it’s coming along! Have any of you also done this?

This is one of my favorite images from Bisti Badlands. This month is the only time this photo will be sold - after this month I will never sell another copy. Link in my bio for more info! #newmexicosky #visitnewmexico

I know this isn’t an original composition by any means, but damn, it’s such an amazing scene to take in that I couldn’t help myself. Making it even more interesting and fun was the arrival of one of the craziest sunsets I’ve ever seen. It took me forever to edit this one. Because of how close I was to the foreground with my wide angle lens, I needed to use a technique called focus stacking to get both the foreground and distant rocks in focus. I also used three vertical shots and stitched them as a panorama so it was quite a challenge to pull it all together. This one was taken in Arizona a couple months ago. #arizona🌵 #arizonahighways #arizonahighwaysmagazine #landscapephotography #sunsets #exploreaz #sonyalphasclub Shot on @sonyalpha a7r2; @venuslaowa 15mm f/2

The Grand Canyon is perhaps one of the most amazing places in North America. Every time I visit, I’m left in awe. This view down the river blew my mind. #arizonahighwaysmagazine #arizonahighways #grandcanyon #awesome #sunrise Shot with @zeisscameralenses Loxia 21.

I don’t do a lot of black and white work but this scene just screamed for it. I used a 100-400 lens to get some nice compression on these dunes in Utah at sunset. I shot directly into the sun and enjoyed the lines created by the late sunlight on the tops of the dunes. Interesting layers too! #utahtravels #blackandwhite #sonyalphasclub

I’m ready for more mountain scenes like this one. One of my favorite places on earth. I’m saddened to hear that this location will likely require permits soon and perhaps no overnight camping. I suppose I’m guilty of sharing the love of this place. What a conundrum we find ourselves in. What’s your approach to #naturefirst ?

The desert has really captivated my heart and mind as a photographer. There’s something magical about it. Pair the insane geologic formations with some excellent skies and it’s a match made in heaven. Interestingly, this was taken about an hour after sunset - a sky that wouldn’t stop burning. I love how that happens! #instagramaz #naturephotography #geologyporn #desertlandscapes #geologyrocks #fineartphotography #naturefirst

sapnareddy Glad you stuck around Matt. I like the softer hues post sunset much better than the intense burn.

On the last morning of my recent Utah/Arizona photography trip, I was sleepy and exhausted from putting over 1500 miles on my 4Runner, but I had a good feeling about sunrise, so I climbed out of my roof top tent and was greeted by this fantastic scene. Looks way more interesting on a big screen, obviously. I also think it’s funny that my long time Flickr contact @lonesomelandscapes was here shooting the exact same scene and we didn’t realize it at all until I recognized his shot as being so similar in the sky. I love how small this community is! Have a great week! :) #naturephotography #sunrise_shotz #utahtravels #sonyalphasclub #desertlandscapes #travelutah Shot using a @zeisscameralenses Loxia 21.

“Rock Bacon”The geologic formations created by time, wind, water, and sand have always fascinated me. I explored this incredible wall of sandstone for hours and was struck by how much it looked like a huge slab of bacon. What do you see in this desert abstract?#instagramaz #desertlandscapes #abstractphotography #sandstone #naturephotography #geologyporn

Toroweap is a magical place. Upon laying eyes on it for the first time, my brain went wild with ideas. The first that came to mind was a shorter star trail sequence as seen here, featuring the Colorado River cutting through the huge walls of the Grand Canyon. For this piece, I combined 110 layers of star movement (actually, Earth movement) and reduced the opacity of each layer sequentially to give it a meteoric or falling star feel. I also had to go in and eliminate all of the airplanes and satellites from the image, which took hours. I hope you enjoy the view!#visitarizona #explorearizona #arizonahighways #deserts #instagramaz #nightshooterz #nightshooters #sonyalphasclub @grandcanyonnps

I just returned from an incredible 8-day journey into Southern Utah and Northern Arizona - a totally new experience for me. I had a fantastic time photographing well-known locations and taking a ton of intimate abstract photos. This is a rare use of the wide angle lens for the trip. The sunset was a real long burner with incredible bounce light. I’m already itching to go back out with my friends. Thanks to @michaelbollino for the invitation, and to @cramjeremy @paulbowmanphotography @kibbyphoto @dustingentadventures for the amazing time! #deserts #arizonasky #arizonahighways #roadtrip #nature #desert #landscapephotography #ig_color #mothernature #explorearizona #visitarizona #adventure #instagramaz #explore

This spot may be one of my favorite places in Colorado. I’m always mystified when I visit. I don’t even consider this a gallery shot but looking back at it made me smile ear to ear. Here’s the scene: I drove up this amazing road to camp a few nights with three of my favorite photographers, @kanesimages , @doerzer , and @jimmygekas — after a great night of enjoying campfire beers and cooking food, great story telling, and drying out from the rain, we made plans to go to one of our favorite vistas. It’s always a gamble but when the light is good it can be quite dynamic. A full week of rainstorms terminated with this crazy scene where the clouds broke just for a minute to let a single light beam shine down on the valley, all while a thick fog bank rolled through the valley. You can’t make this stuff up... it’s Colorado Magic. :) #mothernature #naturelovers #nature #instanature #naturephotography #travel #explore #adventure #choosemountains #coloradoactivities #coloradotography #livewild #yourco #colorado #viewcolorado #naturalcolorado #colorfulcolorado #coloradolife #coloradolove #westbysouthwest #puresw #rockymountains #coloradolive #coloradogram

The Grand Canyon is a magical and special place. Seeing it from above is pretty impressive for sure, but seeing it from the river is unbelievable. In 2017, I rafted the river and risked bringing my camera and lenses with me for the trip. I’m glad I did! One night, after setting up camp on the river, I hiked up a steep hillside and was rewarded with this fabulous view of the canyon and river. #arizonahighways #arizona #arizonasky #grandcanyon #grandcanyonnps #nature_photo #milkywaychasers

What a view from the summit of 14,308’ Uncompahgre Peak- Colorado’s 6th highest mountain. One of my favorite views in Colorado for sure. This was a very memorable morning. 12,644 ft. Ruby Peak and 13,058 ft. Mount Owen rise above a forest of aspen and pine near Kebler Pass, Colorado. The famous and often photographed volcanic dyke known as "The Dyke" extends east from Ruby Mountain above a classic stand of red aspen trees, one of the rarely finds in Colorado. This was a really magical sunset and I was happy to have found a great place to witness it west of Crested Butte, Colorado. I don’t know if this image will resonate with many folks but I love it. I did a long solo hike to the edge of the NaPali Coast of Kauai through the jungle a couple months ago. At one point, I emerged from the jungle and was greeted with this breathtaking view of trees. The way I was situated made it so that I could look down into the canopy. This canopy of Koa trees (I’m pretty sure, if you think otherwise let me know) was illuminated by late afternoon sun.Koa wood was used by native Hawaiians in constructing houses, spears, tools, paddles, and short surfboards. While there were many uses for koa, it was never used for eating receptacles because the resin, which could not be removed, would leave a bad taste to foods. Today, koa is propagated and planted in forest restoration projects and/or used as shade trees in home gardens. The wood is still very much prized in wood craft and is high in demand, being one of the most expensive woods in the world. Koa is also a tonewood and used in modern musical instruments such as the ʻukulele.#mothernature #naturelovers #nature #instanature #naturephotography #travel #lifestyle #explore #adventure #lethawaiihappen #glimpseofhawaii #luckywelivehi #paradise #ig_ocean #hawaiistagram #hawaiisbestphotos #hawaiiunchained #havealohawilltravel #hgnlife #ighi #adventurehawaii #wearehawaii #explorehawaii #hgn #thisisthehgnlife #kauaihawaiiShot with @sonyalpha a7r2; @sony 70-300 FE @feisoltripods 3442 Tournament
